Shiya & Jason

A couple weeks ago I received a phone call from a fellow photographer, Rebecca Bonner at about 1:00 pm. "Hi Kellie, it's Rebecca Bonner. We met at the PUG Meeting a few months ago..." I immediately recognized Rebecca's kind and articulate voice. Her pleasent smile popped into my head :) Her second shooter for that evening's wedding had gone to the hospital and she needed some help. The wedding was in just a couple hours...luckily, it was the day after the Pictage Partner Confernce in LA so I only made plans with my couch that night.
Shiya & Jason were married at the Botanic Gardens with a dramatic sky and a few sprinkles here and there. It is near to impossible to get a bad background in the Botanic Gardens. We were super lucky - everything was freshly watered from the recent rain.

The reception was at the beautiful Magnolia Hotel right downtown. I was only at the reception for about an hour but I had the opportunity to steal Shiya away and grab a few shots of her and those sassy red heels.

Brides.com Networking Party

Brides.com hosted a vendor appreciating and networking party tonight at the Colorado History Museum. The decorations were very swank, the live music was very dancable and the buzz of party-goers chatting was energizing. Man, do they know how to throw a paty! I tasted so many delicious appetizers & desserts...I met so many enthusiastic vendors in the wedding industry...and I caught up with some great photographer friends...all in all, it was a great night! I ran out of business cards about 90 minutes into the evening - this is a sign that I met a lot of people but it's also a sign that I need to carry A LOT more business cards with me!

Brides.com definately made me feel appreciated :)

Birthdays and Bridal Shops

I can't believe I'm not going to be 20-something a year from now...didn't I just turn 21 and buy my first beer at the bar?!?!?!? I had a great day - thank you for all your wonderful birthday wishes!

My mom took me to lunch at Bombay Clay Oven in Cherry Creek North - what a jewel of a restaurant! My mom saw their small ad in the community newspaper and suggested we check it out. We had the buffet and not only was there a wide selection of very delicious Indian Cuisine but it was under $10 each person! Crazy! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a yummy Indian Buffet - my mouth is watering just writing about it!
After our lunch, we walked around Cherry Creek North and popped into Andrisen Morton to browse through their wedding gowns. Believe it or not, this was my first time going into a bridal shop just to browse. I've visited plenty to talk with the owners about business stuff but never gone in just to enjoy the beautiful dresses. Since I was with my mom, I knew this would be a perfect time to "day dream" with her. One of my July 2009 brides, Christen, has shared many details about her wedding planning progress over our weekly breakfast dates. She tried on dresses a couple months ago and found the perfect one for her (yea!) and yesterday when I was in the shop, I got a glimpse of what she was talking about when she told me "I just knew this was the one". There is a certain energy inside in the room housing the dresses. It's anxiousness, it's joyousness, it's pride, it's nerves...It made me excited to find my dress so I can tell my friends "I just knew this was the one".
I don't think this will be my last venture into a bridal boutique as an incognito wedding vendor...it was very fun playing "bride-to-be" :)

Jay & Allyson E-Shoot

Jay & Allyson contacted me a couple months ago and we got together over coffee to talk about shooting their engagement photos. The two of them are traveling to Greece next summer to get marrried - WOW! So, they wanted to get some beautiful and fun shots taken to announce their marriage to everyone. We met up at Riverfront Park last weekend and spent a couple hours laughing, talking, day-dreaming about the beaches in Greece and shooting some great photos of these two love birds.

Erik's Senior Portraits

We fit Erik's senior portraits in just under the deadline! We had a beautiful evening at Wash Park to work with...and his Mom doing a dance behind me made him smile. I wish I could have seen what she was doing (I imagine something like the Elaine from Seinfeld) because she would get him cracking up. It wasn't hard to get a good picture of this handsome fellow. He's a proud player with the Eaglecrest Raptors and I'm sure all the cheerleaders would love to get one of his wallet photos with a message on the back like "Have a great summer" :)

Joe's music career is on the quick rise and Kendra is dominating the kickboxing & personal training circuit among LA's finest.
